    28 gauge reloading

Anyone reload 28 gauge. I have a hundreds of Winchester AA 28 hulls.

Would like to work up a nice 3/4 or 7/8 load.

First of all, you know of the difference between AA and the AAHS Hulls. If not, they are clearly marked. The HS are the more recent.

I am still using the old AA's

I use 13 grains of Universal Clays with a Win 209 Primer.

If you have the HS, I am not sure that will work. I invite you to check the Hodgdon site:

I agree with Dennis. There is a difference, but it's pretty easy to detect. The HS hulls are plainly labeled right on the hull. If you have HS hulls, get the Claybuster HS wads. If you have the WAA28s the WAA29 wad or any of its clones works well. If you're not sure, you can use the expensive PT28 wads. All over 13 grains of either Unique or Universal (my personal preference is Universal). WAA or STS primers work fine as do the Nobels or the Fiocchis.

All of the above is for 3/4oz or less.

Hodgdon's web site load data lists some 7/8-oz lead loads in AAHS hulls with Lil Gun powder. They list 1-oz loads at 1200fps in Fiocchi hulls. I did not check Cheddite or Federal hulls, but they probably list some 7/8-oz and 1-oz loads, too. http://www.hodgdon.com/
